Mauritius, the island more well-known as a paradisiacal holiday destination than anything else is also home to some of the best real estates on a tropical island you can find. All of that at an affordable price as well.

Buying property in a foreign country can be a mightily hard task indeed and that is why there are several real estate agencies to the rescue. They handle the paperwork, the more grueling tasks of checking the property in question and generally doing the less attractive legwork for you.

It has become more convenient to deal with agencies concerning these transactions these days instead of relying on newspapers solely and having to contact owners directly- one by one. We honestly cannot imagine how much resources this entire process would take up.

However, we understand that it is hard to make the decision of which real estate agency in Mauritius to contact. After all, there is a lot of them online! We have shortlisted a few agencies along with some pros and cons to help you make a better choice.

1.     Royal Park Mauritius

royal_parkThis one operates online with ease, thus being appropriate if you aren’t in the country or unwilling to travel to the Head Office regularly. It has a plethora of estates targeting both local and international markets. The website is also quite user friendly with not only pictures of what you are getting but also a “video tour” of sorts to help with the decision making.

This is the one “holistic” agencies with resorts, villas, homes, apartments and even plain old undeveloped land available for purchase. Navigating through the properties on site is a pleasant enough experience.

They provide a myriad of services, it’s not goodbye after the check is signed for them obviously. Ranging from administration to organization of in-resort activities and even childcare, Royal Park Mauritius is certainly worth checking out.

2.     MW Property Group

MwPropertyThe main pro as we see it is detailed pricing list on the homepage itself and a wide range, hinting at being able to cater for people having vastly different budgets.

Both the client (that is, you) and the owner should pay a considerable percentage of the sale of property or rent value (at each payment) to the real estate agency. This might as well lead to artificially inflated prices that in no way reflect what one may have expected before the purchase went through.

3.     Tropicscope

(We were unable to procure the logo for this agency) Still a fledging business, this little website makes your job way easier when it comes to renting some real estate in Mauritius.

It has a simplistic design as compared to others and makes up for it with detailed texts about the properties themselves accompanying the photos.

It also allows buying your own little place in the “village” of Port Chambly in the Northeastern region of Mauritius. If it’s a small unit in a close and rather rural setting that you seek, give it a try!

4.     Bluelife Ltd

Here’s to hoping that you don’t mind some financial jargon, then this could be the agency for you. They boast of their success on the stock market and have their financials available online for potential customers online.

Admitting that this is a somewhat humorous approach to the buying and selling of land in Mauritius, we can suspend our disbelief for a moment.

They are the developers of Azuri Resorts, so they can cater to your need for urbanism when it comes to hunting down some property in Mauritius. Happy hunting- hopefully Mauritius will prove to be the paradise you seek!

Vacationers have however increasingly preferred to opt for the villas in Mauritius, as they offer exclusivity and this from A to Z. When to visit Mauritius?

The peak season hovers as from November and until January. While some prefer Christmas, others prefer the quieter travel season, from May until September. Why is that so? Prices of villas in Mauritius double in high season and will be much cheaper between May and September. Yet the same luxury, the same standard is maintained.

The low season occurs during winter in Mauritius. The sun is of course still present but some regions such as Poste Lafayette or Belle Mare may be particularly exposed to the wind. This does not prevent relaxing or sunbathing, around the pool or in front of the lagoon. Special offers can also be applied in low season.

If you want to enjoy the summer and experience the festive atmosphere of the island, traveling during the high season, especially in December, is the best time. You are sure to enjoy late night shopping as well as crazy deals. Hotels are particularly preferred during this period because they allow to enjoy the special activities proposed.

Staying in a hotel in Mauritius!

Hotels offer a different atmosphere when staying in Mauritius. If you want to stay in a colonial hotel you can opt for the St. Regis or Le Telfair but if you are looking for a budget why not try Villa Caroline? You have such a wide choice of hotel on the beach, golf clubs or even hotels specialized in offering group activities. Whatever your interest or desire, you will certainly find a hotel that suits you.

Recently, the industry of holiday accommodation in Mauritius has changed dramatically. Mauritius has evolved from a secret island paradise into a popular holiday destination. This includes in particular a selection of cheap hotels to top-notch luxury hotels – some of which are considered the best in the world. Visitors can also choose unique boutique hotels or business hotels depending on the purpose of their visit to the island.

What differentiates luxury villas?

Such as hotels, there are 3-5-star villas. If the 3-star villas offer a touch of luxury but are located in an isolated area or offers simple but neat decoration, the 4 or 5 stars villas guarantee complete luxury. They are mostly located by the sea, with 3 bedrooms, very nicely decorated, with antique or modern furniture. Villas offer an incomparable charm, with a swimming pool on with view over the ocean.

The luxury of a turquoise lagoon every day … everyone wants to afford it … It is possible for you at competitive prices in Mauritius. Everyone can stay in a villa if he wants to. The high class villas will also propose a private cook, who can prepare Mauritian dishes- they are not only about creole food, you will also come across fusion cuisine, Chinese cuisine and Indian cuisine. A real treat for the palate! Staying in a villa is simply the best way to spend holidays: a true wellness is offered during vacation time.

Getting closer to Nature!

Staying in a lodge offers an alternative and interesting experience. Holiday lodges tend to be smaller than the villas and are often surrounded by a beautiful environment. If you want to be surrounded by lush nature and be charmed by the beautiful views and lulling noise all day and night, do not look any further, a vacation lodge remains the best choice to satisfy your curiosity.

You can even find an ‘eco-lodge’ (Ecologic hut), or experience of the tent (if that’s what you want) that will bring you even closer to nature- If you opt for the tent, do try the various beaches of the island, you will find it an enriching experience.

Rent a Car in Mauritius

Renting a car in Mauritius during your holidays is the best way to fully discover the island. Moreover, in your rented car you will have the opportunity to plan your days and travel at your own pace. To rent a car in Mauritius, one must possess a driving license for over a year and have a minimum age of 21 years. On-site rental agencies offer rentals for about 50/60 Euros per day. In any case, be ready to change your driving habits if you decide to rent a car or a scooter. Indeed driving in the islands has nothing to do with the policies that you know because the dangers are not the same.

Also, you should note that in Mauritius you should drive on the left. Remain cautious about roundabouts and parking. Watch out for buses that drive fast. Also be very careful. When it comes to bicycles and pedestrians, there is no bike lane or sidewalk in Mauritius- and if you are driving at night, do not be surprised to see someone pop up in front of you in dark clothes.

We hope you enjoy nice holidays on the island and have the chance to enjoy the various activities and visit the many places of interest the island proposes.

We wish you wonderful holidays in Mauritius!
