Once the Great Britain took over the Island population grew from 3000 to about 7000 people. Today the Seychelles Islands has a little over 87,000 inhabitants. The Seychelles Islands gained their independence from Britain in 1976.


The official language on the Seychelles Island is Creole, which is a French based Patois. Other languages that are spoken on the Seychelles Islands include English, French, and Italian.


The main religions on the islands are mainly Roman Catholic along with Angelical and Protestants denominations. There are also pockets of Muslims, Hindus, and Baha’is on the island.
