Mauritius Airport

The place where millions of tourists travel through per year is without a doubt the airport. Located 48 kilometers southeast of Port Louis, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is the only airport of Mauritius. It operates for both domestic and international destinations.

The Airport of the Mauritius, located at Plaine Magnien, is named after the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius – Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam. The terminal is made up of an architecture of about 56,900 m2 looking like a wide fan-like leaf of a ravenala tree. Since 2013 there has been the inauguration of the new terminal which has a free parking for 600 vehicles and able to accommodate 4.5 million passengers.

Mauritius Airport Facilities

On the First level: The International Departures level is situated on the first floor. Find in this level both the Check-in Hall A and B. In the joining section between the check-in area and the boarding area is situated the Passport Control, the Security Control and the Duty-free shops.

You can find the gates G21 to G28 in the boarding area.

There are services such as the First aid station, toilets, Air Mauritius ticketing, baggage wrapping, letter box, currency exchange, prayer room, public phone, smoking area, VAT refund, airport lounges, spa, drop off and pick up passengers, food, drink and retail concessions.

On the Second level: Find in this level the immigration hall with the border and health controls.

This level is used for both flight connections and the public gallery.

The toilets and the baby changing rooms are there too.

Airport Parking

The parking zone which is situated in front of the terminal is equipped with trolley shelters. To be noted that it has wide sidewalks allowing pedestrians to have a quick and easy access to the new passenger terminal. It can accommodate more than 1,000 vehicles. Near the pick-up area next to the terminal are located the parking zones for licensed and approved Airport taxis, buses and coaches of tour operators as well as car rentals from several car agencies. Activities that can be done near the airport

In the neighborhood of the airport, a lot of activities can be done such as a tour in helicopter, a visit to the Mahebourg museum to know more about the history of Mauritius.  You may enjoy the nearest beach one last time like Blue Bay or Pointe d’Esny. If you have time, you may head to the idyllic island Ile aux Deux Cocos for a relaxing time either to start your holidays or to finish them the best way ever. 

For children, there is the La Vanille crocodile park at 14.1 km from the airport but you may have also newly constructed malls such as Plaisance Mall, Beau Vallon Mall and Le Valentina Mall.
