This stunning colonial castle has been restored to showcase the lifestyle of the families who lived there in the nineteenth century. After its restoration, this grand mansion has regained all of its original splendor and surely invites you on a tour full of surprises through Mauritius rich history.

Built in between 1856 and 1859 by Christian Wiehe- an influential figure of nineteenth century. The Chateau Labourdonnais has been home to the Wiehe families for over 150 years. Built mainly from teak wood, the Mansion is today among Mauritius’ foremost cultural attractions and a flagship of national heritage.

The Chateau de Labourdonnais stretches out on two levels and was inspired by neo-classical architecture. The interior design of the Chateau follows that of the private mansions in the 19th century, the typical colonial hallway leads to either the vast dining room or to the main lounge.
