You will come across many world class golf courses in Mauritius. The golf enthusiast will certainly not be disappointed. The Mauritian courses are not only beautiful; they are challenging championship courses, spread all over the island.
If you are lodging at a hotel owning a golf course you will find that they usually do not charge Green Fees or that there is a nominal charge to play. Players lodging in villas or in other hotels can still arrange tee times at any of these courses whilst they are in Mauritius.
The astonishingly high number of golf courses dotted all over the island, range from basic 9 holes courses to world class championship golf courses with 18 holes designed by the world leading golfers such as Ernie Els, Bernard Langer sprawls and David Leadbetter. And here are some of the best you will come across if you are choosing Mauritius as Golf Destination:

The Mauritius Gymkhana Club
The Mauritius Gymkhana Club is the oldest golf course in the southern Hemisphere and the fourth oldest golf in the world (1844). Mauritius is the 3rd country in the world where golf was played after UK and India. Found in the center of the island, in the district of Plaines Wilhems, it is easily accessible and gives an ideal setting for some golf playing. You should rather play there in summer, since in winter the weather rarely permits.
‘The Legend’, the first of its kind in Mauritius, designed by South African champion, Hugh Baiocchi, is the crowning achievement of Constance Belle Mare Plage Resort. It is located along one of the most superb beaches on the island and each of the 18 holes has unique characteristics.
Built to USPGA specifications, all 18 greens have been rebuilt using Tif Dwarf grasses to ensure a perfect surface. This course is a feast for the eyes and a test for the nerves. Good luck golfers!
The Links Golf
The Resort Championship Golf Course, designed by Rodney Wright and Peter Allis is an 18-hole golf course. It was conceived as a result of the success and demands encountered by Hotels Constance’s first course, ‘The Legend’. Sitting beneath the clubhouse which faces the setting sun, the course is 5,942 m long and has a par of 71. This 18-hole course is set in a location which appears to have been logically created for a Golf Holiday in Mauritius.
The 9-hole One&Only Golf course is a chef d’oeuvre of Gary Player which has the One&Only Golf Academy attached to it. The use of the course is complimentary and expert golf tuition is provided by the Academy’s Pro for a minor fee.
This 9-hole golf course is unique in Mauritius since it is the only course using local grass on the fairways and on the greens. The course is surrounded by thousands of coconut and palm trees. The local grass not only highlights the exotic feel of the place but it also creates a challenge to all golfers. One of the particularity of this course is the fact that its sixth hole run along the beach and offers magnificent views of the Indian Ocean to the golfers.
Paradis Golf Club
Paradis golf course is the sole course in Mauritius to be built within a resort’s grounds and ranks among the most spectacular of the island. The 18-hole Par 72 stretches to the foot of Le Morne Mountain and curls back along the edge of a peaceful lagoon. The greeneries are planted with Seashore Paspalum, an ideal grass for the tropics.
Shandrani, the first 5-star Fully-Inclusive resort of Mauritius features a 768-metre golf course in a beautiful garden running along the banks of the lagoon. This 9-hole, Par 30 “Pitch and Putt” is free of charge and ensures a play surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The difficulty resides in its small size, which suits calculated and accurate swings. It is the ideal course for beginners or those who wish to improve their short game.
Tamarina Golf Club
An 18 holes Championship Golf Course designed by international design company Wright Golf Design and headed by Rodney Wright himself, Tamarina has already been much acclaimed for its distinctively pleasant and rewarding golfing terrain.
